Thank you James

Thank you James

After eight years of service, our Wynyard Quarter Dockline Tram Operations Manager James Duncan is hanging up his tram driver’s hat at the end of July – for now.

James’ passion for tramways has brought so much fun and happiness to Wynyard Quarter.

The trams themselves are a true testament to James’s skill, knowledge and ability. Both have been restored perfectly; they are shiny, lovingly maintained and true Auckland treasures. In fact, James’s work has earned restoration awards for both Tram 881 and our 90-year old Tram 466.

James credits his enthusiasm for trams to his grandfather, who was a conductor in Auckland, and his 43 years of volunteering with MOTAT and time in Wynyard Quarter has kept the family legacy alive.

James will be donning his tram driver’s hat at MOTAT on weekends as Tramway Project Coordinator – a role created especially for him.

We wish James all the very best for the future, while we continue to look at options on how the Tram can be reinstated before America’s Cup.

Thank you,

Panuku Development Auckland
