Tom Ang wins international award

Our Queens Wharf photographer in residence, multi-award winning photographer Tom Ang was awarded the “Photography Content Creator’ award at Hamdan International Photography Awards for his pivotal role in photography education. Tom has written more than 40 books on photography, and these have been translated into more than 20 languages.

You might see Tom around, he’s a regular on Auckland’s waterfront and leads a six week photography mentorship programme annually in Auckland for both amateur and professional photographers. The programme is called Connections and is in it’s fifth year.

More recently, Tom has been working on an exhibition showcasing inter-generational photography. Everyday people have had their image taken with their parents, children and sometimes both, with the goal being to get as many generations in one image as possible. This exhibition will be displayed on the Queens Wharf fence line from Monday, 25 March 2019.

Congratulations, Tom on your award. We’re very lucky to have you here on Queens Wharf with us.
