SeaLink will call Wynyard Point home from 6 November 2019.

Over the past 12 months Panuku has been progressing plans to relocate the ferry service operator from its current base on Wynyard Wharf to 56 Hamer Street on the western edge of Wynyard Point. The relocation is helping make way for the challengers’ bases for the 36th America’s Cup, and the long-term plans for our world-class Waterfront.

The project is on track and relocation works will take place from 29 October to 5 November. During this time, SeaLink’s Great Barrier services will run out of Half Moon Bay using another of the company’s vessels, Seabridge. SeaLink will resume its regular operations from 6 November out of its new Hamer Street terminal.

At its new location, vessels will manoeuvre in the Westhaven Marina entrance between 8-14 times a day, taking about two minutes each time. Large vessels such as the SeaLink barges have a moving exclusion zone around them, and require significant space to manoeuvre, particularly in heavy weather. A warning system using flashing lights will be in place and all boaties will need to be alert, cautious, and stay clear.

Panuku and SeaLink have been working closely with the Harbourmaster, and safety communications are underway with the local marina and boatie communities and key stakeholders to advise of these changes.

We look forward to welcoming SeaLink to its new home on Wynyard Point.
